Please test your CO and smoke detectors regularly to make
sure that they are working properly.

If your detector goes off, please leave your home immediately

DETECTORS:
Your apartment is equipped with a smoke detector(s) for your safety.
If it is the battery type, the battery was checked when you moved in.
You will hear warning beeps up to thirty (30) days before the battery
needs to be replaced. Should this occur, please install a replacement battery.
The smoke detector SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED under any circumstances.
We suggest that you test your smoke detector(s) periodically by simply
pushing the test button on the face of the detector.
Call our office should you have any questions concerning your smoke
detector(s).

Carbon Monoxide Information
Must a carbon monoxide detector be installed in my apartment?
If your apartment contains a furnace or space heater that burns a fossil fuel, a carbon monoxide detector must be installed. If the building is heated by a central heating plant, detectors are not required in the apartment.

IF YOU OR SOMEONE NEEDS HELP RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE OF AN INJURY OR IMMEDIATE DANGER!
You and your property are of great concern to management. Security
doors and locks have been provided to ensure that "uninvited " guest
cannot gain access; however, many times a professional thief can still
gain access. The best security is the concern of each resident for
himself and his neighbors. Remember, your security begins with your
actions. Here are some tips to help you and your family remain
safe:
- You must make sure that the doors to your apartment and the building
common areas are locked at all times.
- If you see suspicious activity or persons, call the police.
- Do not allow people unknown to you to enter the building with you.
- Beware of unexpected deliveries. Sometimes professional thieves use
these kinds of tricks to gain entry into the building.

FIRE
PREVENTION:
IN
CASE OF FIRE, CALL 911 !!!
Here
are some tips to help prevent fires:
- Clean grease and spilled food daily from
cooking range and oven.
- Store cooking grease containers away
from range.
- Keep curtains, towels, potholders, and
other flammable items away from cooking range top.
- DO NOT smoke in bed.
- Have plenty of ashtrays for smokers to
use.
- Always keep household equipment clean
and in good repair.
- Avoid overloading electric wiring
circuits.
- Dispose of newspapers and magazines
regularly.
- Store all matches in tightly closed
metal containers.
- Use a heat-resistant pad under toasters,
grills, and other appliances.

BBQ Grills
BBQ grills within 10 feet of the building present a
severe fire hazard. Grills close to the building also present a
carbon monoxide hazard and should not be used within 10 feet of the
building. If you need assistance in determining a safe place to
grill, please contact the office. NOTE: BBQ Grills should
never be used on the back porches or landings!
