30-Day Notice

Management requires a 30-day written notice of your intent to vacate the apartment when you have decided to move.  This 30-day notice should be based on a calendar month.  For example: if you are moving on the last day of December (December 31st), notice should be given on or before November 30th.  When possible, all moves should coincide with the end of a calendar month.

NOTE:  If a proper 30-day notice is not given, you are responsible for rent and other charges that may apply.

 

Here are a few things to help expedite your move and the return of your security deposit:

·         Please remember that your security deposit is not rent; therefore, you are required to pay rent through your entire notice period.  Also, if you remain in the apartment beyond your anticipated move out date, you will be required to pay rent until the day you vacate the apartment completely.

·         Your security deposit will be mailed to your forwarding address, within forty-five days after you have vacated the apartment completely. 

·         Once you are ready to vacate the apartment completely, we will meet with you to perform a final walk-through of the apartment and to assess damages, if any.  In addition to the rent owed, you are also responsible for any damages to the apartment, as stated in your rental agreement.

·         Upon move out, all apartment keys must be returned. 

·         If applicable, the stove and/or refrigerator must be clean.  The refrigerator door can be left open if it is turned off, or set on low with the door closed if it is on.

·         The apartment must be clean and all debris must be removed from the unit.  If any additional decorating has been done or if any damages have been made, the apartment must be restored to its original condition, or the cost of restoration will be deducted from the security deposit. 

·         Please arrange to have your electric service terminated by calling Commonweath Edison at 1-800-334-7661 and your gas service terminated by calling Peoples Gas at 1-866-556-6001.  Your electric service should be terminated on the last day that you occupy the apartment.
